Barb Wasilewski BN, MBA

Directors

Holly L. Madden

Holly Madden has been a member of MPHA’s board since December 2008 and serves as Treasurer. She is currently employed with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) as Chief Administrative Officer for Community Health Services (Public Health, Primary Care, Mental Health and Home Care). Holly has been with the WRHA for the past ten years and has worked in the community portfolio for the last 5 of those years.  She has been involved in various committees and workgroups relating to Home Care Nursing Caseload Reviews, Primary Care Results Management, Tuberculosis Services, Community Capital Projects and Administrative Reviews. Previous work experience includes two years with Seven Oaks General Hospital and four years with Sharon Home both in financial capacities. Holly has a Certified General Accountants designation and a Certificate in Health Systems Leadership through Royal Roads University.

Caroline Krebs

Caroline Krebs has been a member of MPHA’s board for the past two years. She is currently employed with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) as Manager, Strategic Policy, Planning and Intergovernmental Affairs in Manitoba/Saskatchewan Region. Prior to joining PHAC in 2007, Caroline worked for  Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (National Capital Region) as an analyst, manager and director on variety of policy files, including youth initiatives, employment, corporate and horizontal policy. She has had community-based experience working with at-risk youth and a variety of social justice organizations and is currently helping to organize a number of community-led initiatives in the Glen Elm neighborhood. Caroline has a BA in Sociology and History from the University of Winnipeg and has also pursued graduate studies in social work/policy at Carleton University.

Peter E. Rogers, UE, BA, CPHI (C

Peter has been a member of MPHA / CPHA for a number of years and has been  on the MPHA Board of Directors for the past two years. He is employed by Health Canada, First Nations and Inuit Health, Manitoba Region.  Peter managed the Health Canada, Environmental Health Program for 14 years before pursuing other career options within the department, including his present position as Senior Advisor, Policy and Strategic Planning.  Peter has been a Trustee on the Environmental Health Foundation of Canada since 1994, was the Manitoba Branch President of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) for three years, a member of the National Executive Committee of CIPHI for two years, a member of the CIPHI Board of Certification for seven years and most recently, a Board of Certification examiner for the past two years.  He’s married with two sons and a new daughter-in -law and he is currently the Manitoba Branch President of the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada.

Judith Harris

Judith Harris is an Associate Professor in the new Urban and Inner City (UIC) Studies programme at the University of Winnipeg and an Adjunct Professor in City Planning at the University of Manitoba. Judith’s academic career over the past 20 years in the field of community economic development includes research and teaching in International Development and in Urban Studies.  Judith has a PhD in Planning from the University of Waterloo and an MSc in Resource Economics from the University of Guelph. At the local level, she is involved with Community-University collaborations that led to the establishment of the Spence Neighbourhood Skills Bank and an emerging social enterprise, the Community Research Hub – two asset-based initiatives that prioritize community learning.

Fiona Jeffries

Fiona Jeffries is a Health Promoter with an MA in cultural and medical anthropology and 12+ years experience doing a combination of Health Promotion and Community Health Assessment in NGO, RHA, Canadian Forces, and International Development settings. She is currently the Health Promotion Education Specialist for Brandon RHA, with a focus on tobacco reduction and injury prevention.  She is also a collaborator on Society of Rural Physicians of Canada partnership projects with Frontier Primary Health Care in Pakistan.
